Finding a new right-back for Aston Villa in 2024 is one of Unai Emery‘s top transfer priorities. Right now, the Spaniard only has one specialist option available to him, so he wants to bolster that area.
Consistent center-half Ezri Konsa has lined up on the right side of Emery’s back four 11 times this season; this could indicate that he’s not fully happy with Matty Cash and would prefer an improvement. Jeremie Frimpong of Bayer Leverkusen, who is expected to be available for £35 million this summer due to a release clause in his contract with the Bundesliga side, is one player who may supply that.

Update on Jeremie Frimpong’s transfer

Aston Villa has reportedly identified Frimpong as a possible target for the summer transfer window,  and NSWE will make a bold move to fulfill his release clause subject to a stipulation.

This information is reported by Football Insider. If Villa can guarantee Champions League football this season, they think they can win the race for the summer.  Arsenal, however, is reportedly prepared to bite the bullet.

Villa is in second place in the Premier League with more than half of the season remaining, three points ahead of champions Liverpool and three ahead of fifth-place Spurs. Frimpong expects any bidders to be able to provide a similar incentive, since Leverkusen, who are now four points clear of Bayern Munich at the top of the Bundesliga with an undefeated record after 16 games, is certain to qualify for Europe’s premier club championship.

Devastating Frimpong might usher forth a new age

There isn’t a greater signing to signal Villa’s entrance at the top table if they do place in the top four, especially if it means beating the Gunners to the deal.
To put it plainly, Frimpong has produced an incredible amount this season; only one defender in the top five leagues in Europe, Alejandro Grimaldo, who happens to be his colleague on the other side, has contributed more goals directly (12 vs 11).

This indicates that the Dutchman is easily defeating players like Trent Alexander-Arnold of Liverpool (five), Kieran Trippier of Newcastle (seven), and Achraf Hakimi of PSG (five). It makes sense why Dennis Melzer of Eurosport Germany claims he’s “enormously dangerous in front of goal for a nominally defensive player”.
