Aston Villa has reached an agreement with Adidas to make its uniforms and will end its present partnership with

Castore after players criticized the team’s “wet-look” uniforms.

Nassef Sawiris, the owner of Aston Villa, secured the Adidas deal, which will commence at the beginning of the

2024–25 season. Sawiris also has a 7% stake in the sports apparel company, which produces uniforms for the men’s, women’s, and junior teams.

According to The Telegraph, Sawiris was looking for a high-profile uniform manufacturer similar to Adidas to fit

with his expanding goals for the team. Aston Villa is presently ranked second in the Premier League.

Currently, Adidas has agreements in place to manufacture uniforms for some of the top teams in European

football, including Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, and Arsenal.

However, a primary factor in Sawiris and Villa’s agreement to the Adidas kit arrangement was the owner’s

dissatisfaction with the response the Castore uniforms received, with Sawiris advocating for a solution.

The men’s and women’s Villa teams had complaints over the Castore uniforms’ wet-look design at the beginning

of the current season, claiming that its weight was affecting their performance.

In an effort to “address this issue as quickly as possible to meet the standards we expect,” the UK kit

manufacturer handed out replacement kits for its teams to wear in December—three months after the initial complaint.

Villa is only in the second year of a multi-year contract with Castore, but come next season, it will not be wearing

its uniforms.
