This is the perfect January sales shopping list: four Scotland players, a World Cup midfielder, and one of the

league’s most promising emerging talents.

As their contracts approach their final six months in 2024, nearly 100 players from the first team squad will

know they are free to speak with other clubs.

Some of them will use the upcoming months as a chance to demonstrate their abilities and secure a new

contract, either with their present side or possible new suitors.

Additionally, a number of international players are getting close to becoming free agents, so there may be a lot of

well-known names moving this year.

We’ve selected the finest candidates for 2024; nonetheless, who would you like to team up with?

Liam Kelly, the goalkeeper for Motherwell,

Numerous elite goalkeepers, like as Joe Hart of Celtics, Jon McLaughlin of Rangers, and Craig Gordon of Hearts

and Scotland, are nearing the conclusion of their contracts. However, Kelly is still comfortably on the right side

of 30, is a regular in the Scotland squad, and will be a desirable target for teams looking to obtain a top-notch

deal.

Borna Barisic (Rangers) on defense

The Croatian international has made more than 120 appearances for Rangers since joining the team in 2018,

routinely showcasing his talent at Ibrox, notably contributing more than 30 assists from left back. Clubs

throughout Europe are probably going to be quite interested in signing the 31-year-old, as they want to take

advantage of his inventiveness.

Halkett Craig (Hearts)

The former Livingston captain was sidelined till the end of last year due to a ruptured cruciate ligament. Should

Halkett leave Tynecastle, he would be a more than capable defender for teams in the Premiership and beyond if

he can demonstrate he has addressed his injury concerns.

Gordon Liam (St Johnstone)

Over the past several seasons, the St Johnstone captain, who has won two cups, has been an almost constant

presence for the Perth team. However, after spending almost ten years at McDiarmid Park, might he be lured

away from his childhood team?

O’Donnell Stephen (Motherwell)

O’Donnell, who is just 31 years old and into the last season of his Fir Park deal, is a dependable warhorse for

both club and country. The right-back has been a Steelmen fixture this season, but given the club’s financial

situation, he might be ready for a change of scenery.

Ryan Jack, midfield (Rangers)

Since Philippe Clemente arrived, the Scotland midfielder has fallen down the Rangers hierarchy, which may

indicate that his seven-year tenure at Ibrox is drawing to an end. But the solid tackling defensive midfielder

could yet feature in Steve Clarke’s national squad at Euro 2024.

Keanu Baccus (St Mirren)

The South African-born midfielder has forced his way into the Australia World Cup squad after his performances

in Paisley, and is part of their Asian Cup pool currently in Qatar. The versatile midfielder has been a key man for

Stephen Robinson since arriving in 2022 and is likely to attract much interest after a move to Bolton fell through

last summer.

David Turnbull (Celtic)

With 22 goals and 16 assists for Celtic in the Premiership since joining from Motherwell four seasons ago, Turnbull is perhaps the most valuable player out of contract this summer. His time at Celtic hasn’t quite worked out but at just 24, the Scotland international will likely have no shortage of suitors.

Connor Barron (Aberdeen)

The highly-rated 21-year-old midfielder has been the subject of much speculation since breaking through to the Dons first team, not least from rivals Rangers, and signed with new agents just before Christmas.

Yan Dhanda (Ross County)

The creative midfielder, one of the highest profile British Asian players, has shown his quality for the Staggies

since arriving from Swansea in the summer of 2022. Hearts have been linked with a move for the 25-year-old

this month, so might a move to Tynecastle be in the offing?

Forward

Christian Doidge (Hibernian)

The likes of Kemar Roofe, Simon Murray and Bruce Anderson are set to be attracting interest in the next few

months as their contracts come up, but Doidge – while less prolific in recent years – remains a proven goalscorer

with bags of experience at this level.
