Rangers linked star deemed ‘transfer
risk’ and Celtic player ‘in talks’ over
January move A Serie A team has expressed interest in
a Celtic young player and may make a
move for him in January. In the
meantime, Rangers have received advice
regarding one of their transfer targets
from a former England midfielder. Both
Celtic and Rangers are in the process of
finalizing deals to bolster their respective
squads as well as looking to offload members of their team.
Journalist Fabrizio Romano recently
posted on X (formerly Twitter) about
Bologna, a Serie A team, allegedly
showing interest in Celtic prodigy Rocco
Vata. Talks between the two parties are
expected to start’soon’, and interest in
the player is reportedly ‘increasing’.
Vata, who is just eighteen, has already
competed for the Republic of Ireland at
several young levels. In his lone U21
match, he scored a brace. It appears
likely that he will depart Celtic Park this
month; if Romano’s story is accurate,
Bologna is not the only team interested in signing him.
In regards to Hearts forward Lawrence
Shankland, former Sheffield Wednesday
and England midfielder Carlton Palmer
has expressed his opinions, calling his
possible signing a “risk worth taking.”
Rangers is one of the teams who have
been linked to a deal for the player.
In a conversation with Football League
World about Shankland, Palmer stated:
“He’s still got 18 months left on his
contract and, being a Scottish
international, I’m sure that Hearts will
be looking for a sizeable fee, and yes,
there’s always a risk to take someone
from north of the border, but he’s bang
in form and scoring goals, so maybe it’s a
risk worth taking if the price is right.”
