Injured Villa ace posts update as he continues recovery work

The defender for Aston Villa, Lucas Digne, has shared an update as he is working hard to heal from a hamstring injury.

The 30-year-old was a vital member of our team throughout the first half of the season,

especially with Alex Moreno sidelined due to injury. He has made 26 appearances so far this season,

contributing one goal and five assists to go along with his defensive effort.

He regrettably hurt his hamstring against Manchester United on Boxing Day, missing our past two games against Middlesbrough and Burnley, respectively.

Speaking to the media before the Burnley game,

Unai Emery stated that Digne would probably be out for 20 to 25 days.

This would mean that he would be ready again by the end of January or the beginning of February.

Although Moreno has rejoined the Villa XI and cemented his spot in the starting lineup,

we’ll ideally have both of our left-back options healthy and available for a crucial run of games to guarantee

we have competition and depth as we attempt to contend on numerous fronts in the upcoming weeks and months.

The Frenchman, as seen in the picture below,

shared an Instagram story on Tuesday with the message,

“No day off,” indicating that he is hard at work getting well.

With just three games left, Villa’s January schedule is thankfully lighter than it has been in previous months,

though things do pick up as February approaches.

It is hoped that Digne is improving and will be prepared to return in time to provide us a much-needed lift,

since we cannot afford to put Too much pressure on Moreno at this point and run the danger of him getting hurt.

With our FA Cup spot guaranteed, the Europa Conference League scheduled to resume in March,

and our continued goals of finishing in the Premier League this season,

it is imperative that Villa avoid any more injury setbacks.

We also need to wait for the return of Pau Torres,

Youri Tielemans, and Robin Olsen to get back to full strength.
