The newest move by Josh Doig to Rangers comes as the rival Italian manager ‘denies’ a £3.5 million deal.

While a rival Serie A manager downplayed rumors linking the left-back with his team, Rangers are still able to pursue a January transfer for Josh Doig. Ibrox boss Philippe Clement is looking for a new left-sided defender this

month, and Kai Wagner, an MLS player who was released by the Philadelphia Union last week, is one of the targets

that has been mentioned.

A return to Scotland for the 21-year-old Doig is still very much a possibility, as he is heavily linked to the list of

prospective new signings. His parent club Hellas Verona is interested in current Gers left-back Ridvan Yilmaz.

Numerous other Serie A teams also interested in Doig

Numerous other Serie A teams, notably Monza and Torino, are also interested in Doig. The latter are thought to be

the front-runners following rumors in Italy that a deal had been reached with financially strapped Verona.

Over the weekend, a bid of approximately £3.5 million was reportedly made, using their own player, Gvidas Gineitis, in a player-plus-cash loan arrangement.

Ivan Juvic, the Torino manager, shut down those rumors, saying he wouldn’t likely sign players until one of his

existing stars left the team in January.

“I don’t know what to answer,” he said. We haven’t spoken. I have these players at the moment. Without any

departures, nothing occurs here.”

Previous team Hibernian would be entitled to a fee after including a condition in Doig’s original contract after

agreeing to transfer him to Verona in the summer of 2022, regardless of where he ends up next. It is anticipated that

the capital club will receive 27.5% of the profit.
