While rumours of Scott McKenna being linked to Rangers persist,

the Nottingham Forest defender has already disclosed that he was up as a Celtics supporter.

The 27-year-old Scotland international centre defender McKenna,

who is out of favour at the City Ground, has been linked to both Old Firm teams.

Rangers is the Scottish team that now appears to have the best chance of signing the former Aberdeen player,

as Celtic has already informed journalists that they are not in the running.

But as the transfer rumours swirl this January,

Rangers fans may find something interesting in Scott McKenna’s remarks regarding his father,

a Celtics supporter.

Scott McKenna revealed his loyalty to Glasgow’s green and white side.

Then playing in the Scottish Premiership for Aberdeen,

“My father owned Celtic season tickets,” McKenna explains. “During the period when Celtic was winning in Europe,

I attended a couple of their games.

“I was present when Alan Thompson scored against Barcelona,

as I recall. I used to really enjoy seeing a Parkhead midweek game under the lights.

“Obviously, I want Aberdeen to win when you play for Aberdeen against Celtic.

When you get professional and make it your career, you can no longer support Celtic.

You wish Aberdeen the best because you play for them.
