Rangers respond to Kevin van Veen as Ibrox and Dutch insiders make clear the true status of the team following a brazen transfer rumor.

Rangers have been linked with several players throughout this transfer window already with the right wing role being one that is an obvious area of concern, Million Manhoef being one possible option. For a fee said to be in the region of £2.5m, the 22-year old wide man could be a bargain for Gers boss Philippe Clement, if he can add him to his squad.

Rangers respond to Kevin van Veen as Ibrox and Dutch insiders make clear the true status of the team following a brazen transfer rumor.

The Dutch media are dubious of Van Veen‘s claims that he can’t even go shopping in Scotland without being hounded by supporters.

After stating that Rangers still want to sign him, Kevin van Veen has received a definite reaction, though it may not

be what the self-assured Dutchman wants to hear.

Van Veen, a former striker for Motherwell, has experienced ups and downs since leaving the Scottish Premiership for

the Dutch second division. He recently caused controversy by saying that he “rejected” Rangers in the summer, but

that the team, along with every other team in Scotland, still wants to recruit him.

It’s unclear if Philippe Clement wants another pure number nine given that he already has Fabio Silva in his lineup.

The 32-year-old Van Veen, who has five goals in 15 games for Groningen, interpreted his comments as something of

a come-get-me appeal.

However, seasoned Dutch journalist Piet van Dijken claims to have discussed the situation with Dutch commentator

and insider Wouter Gudde as well as former Rangers great Arthur Numan. And the consensus is clear: Ibrox is not

now firmly interested in signing Van Veen.

A dubious Van Dijken wrote for Sikkom, despite the striker’s claims that he’s still revered as a hero in Scotland and

that he can’t even go shopping without being accosted by supporters: “I recently read that Van Veen is still unable to

do his shopping in Scotland.” He seems to be a hero there still.

Glasgow Rangers are reportedly interested in him

The legendary Glasgow Rangers are reportedly interested in him as well. I chatted with Hugo Hovenkamp this week;

he, in turn, keeps in close communication with Arthur Numan, a former Glasgow Rangers player who continues to

play for the team because he scouts for Arizona. So Hovenkamp contacted Numan if he knew of any Rangers interest

in Kevin van Veen. Numan gave a direct response. He claims that Van Veen is not of interest to Glasgow Rangers.

Additionally, Wouter Gudde recently declared that there had been no communication with the Scots.

Speaking to Dutch media, Van Veen made a strong implication that a return to the SPFL would be in the works, but

he acknowledged that it would be difficult because of his 2026 contract. “There is still interest, even though I rejected

(Rangers) in the summer,” he stated. However, more teams are drawn to a striker who finished the previous season

with 29 goals. I can get in direct contact with every club in the Scottish League, but FC Groningen wants to sell, but

they all want to loan me money.

“It is an issue that many Scottish clubs find it tough to match the transfer cost that FC Groningen paid for me.

Last summer, I gave my move and its aftermath a lot of thought. I wish not to fall short. I’m still a hero in Scotland;

I’m not even allowed to go shopping regularly.”I also wish to introduce myself to Groningen. Life continues even if

that is eventually not feasible. We must act if an opportunity presents itself that benefits both the club and me.

However, that is still a long way off.
