The worst-case scenario for Philippe Clement could arrive in the next month,

but Rangers have escaped the curse of injuries for once.

The manager of the Gers has already lost Abdallah Sima to

the African Cup of Nations at a pivotal point in the season,

but he may soon be joined by another player.

Due to an injury sustained by Victor Boniface shortly before kickoff,

Super Eagles head coach Jose Peseiro had to promote Umar Sadiq.

However, this could indicate that Philippe Clement is going to lose another Rangers player.

Philippe Clement might have a nightmare as a striker for Rangers.

When the Nigerian team was reduced in size, Cyriel Dessers was not included in the final roster.

Dessers, however, might be the next on the list given that Boniface appears to be out for long time,

as disclosed by Fabrizio Romano, and Kelechi Iheanacho is also having trouble staying fit.

In their friendly loss to Guinea, Joe Aribo and Calvin Bassey were benched,

while Sadiq—who is currently a £17 million player at Real Sociedad,

did himself no favours by drawing a blank in a match they should have won.

Speaking after revealing his starting lineup,

Peseiro described how he eliminated 16 players to arrive at 25:

“There are players who performed well for their clubs but underperformed on the national team,

making up the players who are not included in the final squad.

“There are also players that perform well for their country but poorly for their clubs.

Thus, in order to create the final list, we considered their present form,

whether they were playing well, and their physical condition.

“Selecting the 25 players was a difficult task, but I took responsibility for it,

and I sincerely hope and pray they perform well for us.”

It is understandable that Dessers was lower on the hierarchy given

that every national team manager strives to establish a club culture and that

he had not competed for his country in almost four years.

Even if Victor Osimhen is a class act, things in international football change quickly,

therefore he won’t be able to accomplish it by himself.

Where do you begin with Dessers and Sadiq in a forward pairing?

With Dessers gone, Philippe Clement would be left with only Fabio Silva as his central option.

Danilo and Kemar Roofe are already out of the picture.

If Dessers receives the call, he will undoubtedly require reinforcements if he didn’t previously.
