Former Rangers star, Alfredo Morelos returns to stay and support Santos, accepts a massive pay cut.
In order to stay and try to assist Santos in getting back into the Brazilian top division, Alfredo Morelos has consented
to accept a massive 50% wage cut.
Since Santos were relegated for the first time in their 111-year history, the former Rangers striker’s move has been a
complete failure.
Due to injury, he has only played 76 minutes, made one start since coming in August, and failed to score any goals
while Pele’s former team was losing.
Even though there wasn’t much interest in the 27-year-old, Santos promised to let Morelos go for nothing if he could
find a new team. There were even rumors that the three-year deal would be cut up.
However, following discussions between the team, the player, and his agent Martin Camono, sources from South
America have stated that Morelos has consented to drop his salary from £40,000 per week to £20,000 in order to
remain with the team.
This week, he returned to the team for their preseason workouts and was deemed fit.
And with four clubs promoted back to the top division, Santos will play in Serie B for the first time, and the
Colombian is expected to resume his career.
