Ryan Poles gives vote of confidence to Matt Eberflus before season finale

Before the Bears’ season finale, the general manager of the team talked highly of Matt Eberflus.

This season, pundits and outsiders have frequently conjectured that head coach Matt Eberflus’ career may be in jeopardy following a string of underwhelming performances.

Nevertheless, general manager Ryan Poles gave Eberflus a thumbs up before their away season finale versus the Packers.

Poles stated before the game on ESPN 1000, “You can go back to the original press conference [in January 2023] and things I was looking for.

” One required mental courage, leadership, and a firm hand to truly steer the ship over choppy waters.

And there were moments when they were difficult; early this year, there was undoubtedly a change from last year.

“He was steady at the wheel.

He fought to get back above water and get things the way they were.

His ability to adapt and adjust, really take input from the players, to get this thing on the right path was incredible.

I think a lot of people would have been in really bad shape and crumbled to the pressure.

He got better with the pressure, and so did our football team.”

Poles does a great job defending his head coach. The season began with some choppy seas, but Eberflus battled back and helped guide the Bears on their current winning streak.

Alan Williams, the defensive coordinator, abruptly left his post early in the season.

David Walker, the running backs coach, was also fired by the Bears. Chase Claypool’s miserable time with the squad also brought them minuscule exposure.

Things weren’t getting any better on the field. The Bears opened the season 0–4, losing to the Packers by 18 points, the Chiefs in front of Taylor Swift, and the Denver Broncos at home after squandering a 20-point lead. Nothing was going smoothly, it seemed.

Eberflus & Co., however, emerged triumphant. In the past seven games, the Bears have triumphed five times.

Their home record this season is 5-3, and they have won their last five games at home. And as of right now, they have the league’s 20th-ranked defense and 16th-ranked offense.

That seems to mean that Eberflus’s job is secure. Current reports support this as well. Adam Schefter of ESPN NFL Insiders stated earlier on Sunday that Eberflus is safe to use throughout the offseason.
