Robby McCrorie, the custodian for Rangers,

has received a directive to leave the Light Blues during the January transfer window from his brother,

Ross McCrorie, a former player at Ibrox.

Having come through the Ibrox development system,

Ross McCrorie left Glasgow for Aberdeen in 2020 to play regular first-team football.

During the summer transfer window, he joined Bristol City in the English Championship.

Robby McCrorie hasn’t played for the Gers yet this season due to the arrival of Jack Butland last summer,

and his brother Ross has pushed the Rangers keeper to leave Ibrox so he can play every week.

He stated, as cited on page 47 of the print Sunday Mail (7 January),

“He’s at a stage where he’s got to be playing – he knows that.”

It takes me back to my time as a Rangers fan. I had to finish up these games.

Since Robby is a skilled custodian,

he should find out the Rangers’ opinions and wait to find out what transpires in January.

It’s difficult to leave a club in that situation,

but playing every week is what each player should strive for.

“That’s what elevates you.”

Ideal for each and every party

It is evident that Butland is Philippe Clement’s top choice at Ibrox,

and if the Englishman keeps up his current level of play this season,

he will be in goal for Rangers for many years to come.

Robbie McCrorie, more crucially, lacks a clear route to establish himself in the first team and maintain a regular starting position.

He’s not likely to play thirty games or more in a season as long as Butland stays in Glasgow.

Although 25 is still a young age for a goalie,

most stoppers start playing football with the first squad on a regular basis at that age.

Robbie McCrorie’s career would benefit greatly from leaving the Rangers in January.

Before the end of the month, he ought to heed his brother Ross’s advise and switch.

During his career, it served him well, and the new goalie should have similar success with it.
