Rangers fans receive apology from club chief for ‘upset caused’ by social media post
The League One team seems to have created a stir after acquiring an Ibrox player.
Following the signing of Rangers player Ben Williamson by the League One team, John Brown,
the chairman of Hamilton Academical, has expressed regret to ‘anyone who was hurt’ by the terms of their tweet.
The North Lanarkshire team said on Friday on X,
the previous Twitter platform:
“We are happy to announce that Ben Williamson’s deal with Hamilton Academical FC is now complete.
We and The Glasgow Rangers FC have reached an undisclosed agreement for the player.appreciate The GRFC’s help.”
Having failed to make a senior appearance, Williamson, 22,
made his permanent move away from Ibrox after on-loan stints at Arbroath,
Livingston, Raith Rovers, Dundee, and Partick Thistle.
After the club’s social media announcement received some unfavourable feedback,
Accies responded to the first post with a second one yesterday (Saturday, January 6).
“Hamilton Academical FC would like to apologise to anyone who was offended with the wording of a recent social media post where we were really delighted to announce the signing of Ben Williamson,”
the statement said, directly from the chairman.
We had no intention whatsoever of offending anyone or suggesting any disrespect towards any club through our communication. John Brown is the chairman.”
