Alan Shearer exposes the truth about Celtic and Rangers while the Premier League legend expresses deep sadness for
their opponents.
The all-time leading goal scorer in the Premier League admitted he would be open to a move and chimed in on the
last fan debate.
Even though he would love to see it, legendary English Premier League player Alan Shearer thinks Celtic and
Rangers would never be successful south of the border.
The all-time leading goal scorer in the Premier League spoke on the ultimate fan argument and believes the fiercest
rivals would improve the richest league on the planet. The Newcastle player exaggerated the importance of the
Glasgow pair, who have been connected to quitting Scottish football for a while. Shearer, who was connected to a
surprise Parkhead move following Kenny Dalglish’s return to Celtic, expressed his admiration for the legendary
environments at both Ibrox and Celtic Park, but he doesn’t think the Premier League will approve of a move south
for Scotland’s top teams.
He said, “The atmosphere in those grounds is amazing,” in an interview with the podcast The Rest is Football. They
are two enormous clubs, given their tremendous global following. Yes, they should be in the Premier League; it
would be fantastic. However, I don’t think it will ever occur and we will never see it.
The early 2000s saw the height of support for Celtic and Rangers to relocate south, but the plan was never
implemented. And that would seem unlikely to happen very soon given that the current EPL top six make enormous
sums of money.
And now, Celtic and Rangers—who are both eliminated from the most recent Super League—are attempting to earn
entry into the Champions League for next season, which ensures eight games and further millions in television and
gate receipts.
