West Ham may have 2nd chance to sign £18m Aston Villa attacker with Unai Emery ready to sell
Unai Emery is rumored to be prepared to let go of the Aston Villa forward this winter, so West Ham United may get another chance to recruit him.
In the January transfer window, David Moyes and Unai Emery are both eager to bolster his teams at West Ham and Aston Villa, respectively.
With Mohammed Kudus away at the AFCON with Ghana for the next four or five weeks and Michail Antonio sidelined until the beginning of next month due to injury, the Hammers are in desperate need of a top-tier attacker.
Jhon Duran, a past target of Moyes, is one player who might be available this month as Emery is reportedly prepared to let go of the 20-year-old striker during the January transfer window (Daily Mail).
The Colombian striker was courted by West Ham to move to the London Stadium before signing a contract with Villa in January 2023 for an estimated £18 million (BBC).
Unai Emery ready to sell Aston Villa star
West Ham should swoop in for Duran after reports claimed Emery is ready to cash in on him.
The 20-year-old Colombian international is a true talent who seems to have all the makings of a winner on the greatest stage in the world. Although his trade is center forward, he can also play left flank.
In his final season with the Chicago Fire, Duran recorded eight goals and six assists in thirty appearances (Transfer market)
In 33 appearances for Villa, he has only managed four goals and one assist, although in those 687 minutes, he has only appeared in six occasions and never received a run of starts (Transfermarkt).
Duran has truly elite skill, therefore don’t let his dismal record deceive you. He also fits Moyes’s approach well.
