Vitesse fear relegation amid heavy interest in Million Manhoef
Vitesse chiefs are prepared to “veto” any transfer of Rangers-linked Million Manhoef this month for fear that losing
him will get the club relegated, according to De G.erlander
The Dutch publication said on their website on January 6 that head coach Edward Sturing and technical director
Benjamin Schmedes both feel the adaptable 22-year-old must remain with the team despite the possibility of earning
millions of dollars upon his departure.
The Eredivisie team is prepared to thwart a departure despite interest from other nations because they believe that
the cost of relegation would be significantly more than the amount the Dutchman could fetch. A similar successor is
not expected to be available.
Rangers, who can play as a winger, midfielder, or left-back, are reportedly leading the fight for Manhoef and are
preparing a £2.5 million bid ahead of Preston North End and Leicester City, according to a story published in The
Scottish Sun on December 29.
Dead End
Though he only turned 22 on January 3rd, it makes natural that there would be a lot of interest in the young player
given his age, versatility, and nine goals and five assists in the Dutch top division last season.
However, if the authorities at Vitesse agree that he cannot leave, then this could be the last issue for the winter
window.
It’s possible that Manhoef could support Philippe Clement when he needs reinforcements, but for the time being, it
might not matter.
Rangers believe he is essential to their league survival, so the reported cash for an approach is not trivial from their
perspective. However, it is unlikely that the club could raise enough money to make the Dutch team think twice
about making a move.
So, it appears like Clement will have to focus on other possibilities because he won’t have much time to complete the
required business in the midseason window.
The month got off to a good start with Fabio Silva’s prompt arrival, but if no more changes are made before the
deadline, both the manager and the supporters would be dissatisfied.
