NBA Rumors: Golden State Warriors
‘wild horse’ for superstar trade deadline candidate
The 2023–24 NBA regular season is
officially a week or two away, and thus
far, things haven’t gone well for the
Golden State Warriors. The Warriors are
17–18 through 35 games this season, and
they are holding onto the 10th seed in
the Western Conference rankings. It was
anticipated that the Warriors will return
as a strong contender in the West this
season after making an unexpected run
to the Western Conference semifinals the previous year.
Golden State hasn’t experienced that as
of yet. More evidence points to the
Warriors overhauling or completely
changing their squad than to them
adding a player during the NBA Trade
Deadline who might save the season.
With one month to go until the deadline,
the Warriors must make some important choices.
If the Warriors intend to avoid
rebuilding, they will probably need to
make a significant acquisition of a player
with star potential in order to have any
chance of saving the season. There’s no certainty even with that.
Remarkably, a recent source claims that
the Warriors have become a “wild horse”
contender to be the destination of a major trade for Pascal Siakam.
The Warriors would theoretically be a
perfect fit for Siakam, who is anticipated
to be traded by the Toronto Raptors
before the NBA Trade Deadline. Finding
a way to close a deal, though, will be the
Warriors’ biggest obstacle in acquiring Siakam.
What could a Golden State Warriors offer for Pascal Siakam look like?
The Warriors don’t have a ton of draft
capital to include in a Siakam trade and
would have to build a trade package
around some of their young players and
salary fillers. With as much of a trade
market as there’s expected to be for
Siakam, there’s no guarantee that the
Warriors would have enough to get a deal done.
