Napoli are planning a bid for Barcelona’s defence, while the Catalans are eager to strike a deal with Aston Villa

Clement Lenglet’s future has been the subject of considerable discussion in recent weeks, with interest building in

the on-loan Aston Villa defender, who has struggled for consistent Premier League playing time this season aside

from the last few of weeks.

Barcelona, Lenglet’s parent club, wants the French defender to play as much as possible for the rest of the season in

order to improve his worth ahead of the summer transfer window.

At this point, it appears doubtful that this will occur at Aston Villa.

Barcelona would ideally prefer to recall Lenglet this month in order to loan him to another club, and Napoli are

preparing an offer for Lenglet, according to Il Mattino (via Sport).

This would be subject to an agreement being made between the Catalans and Aston Villa to end the present loan agreement.

Barcelona is anxious to offload Lenglet, but it will not happen in January.

The most they can hope for is that he puts himself in the shop window from now until the end of the season, which is doubtful considering his predicted dearth of minutes at Aston Villa.

The bad news is that Unai Emery wants to keep hold of the 28-year-old.
