Mike Hughes clears concussion protocol, Falcons designate defensive back Natrone Brooks as practice squad elevation
NEW ORLEANS — The Falcons confirmed on Saturday that Mike Hughes had passed the concussion protocol, allowing him to play in Sunday’s regular-season finale against New Orleans.
The veteran cornerback has been taken off the team’s official injury report after earlier being labelled as questionable to play against the Saints. Over the past three games, Hughes has been the starting slot cornerback. He has eight tackles, one for a loss, and one pass defensed. Hughes has given up three receptions for 41 yards on seven targets in that time, according to Pro Football Reference.
Dee Alford is on standby as well.
Regarding secondary news, the Falcons have elevated defensive back Natrone Brooks to a regular practice squad member. Given that safety DeMarcco Hellams is out of Sunday’s game due to a concussion, this move could give more depth at the safety slot. Brooks has never been elevated before.
