After finding it difficult to settle in Saudi Arabia, former Liverpool captain Henderson is reportedly hoping to return

to the Premier League, according to The Daily Mail.

In the summer, the England international moved for £12 million to play with Gerrard at Al-Ettifaq.

The heat and playing conditions in Saudi Arabia, together with the “less than inspiring” 7,500 attendance figures for

Al-Ettifaq, are alleged to have presented challenges for Henderson.

The report also lists harassment of Henderson’s purported disdain for LGBTQ+ advocacy when he agreed to relocate

to Saudi Arabia as a factor in his decision to quit the club.

Henderson is reportedly taking a look at his status and taking a vacation during the Saudi League’s winter break.

In addition to off-field problems, former Rangers manager Steven Gerrard’s team has lost their last eight games, and

rumour has it that the only thing keeping him in his job at this time is his legendary status.

In order to rejoin the Premier League, Henderson is allegedly prepared to think about taking a large wage cut and

writing off millions of dollars in taxes.

The former Liverpool midfield player was reportedly expected to make up to £700,000 a week in Saudi Arabia in the

summer.

The tax-free portion of Henderson’s pay, according to the statement, is only valid if he stays with Al-Ettifaq for the

full two years of his contract.

Henderson’s sudden departure could wind up costing the midfield player up to £7 million.
