The forgotten man of Aston Villa resumes training after a 15-month absence
Kortney Hause, a defender for Aston Villa, has resumed full training at Bodymoor Heath, following a 15-month
hiatus from competitive play while on loan at Watford.
The center back may depart Villa during the January transfer window after being left off of the team’s 25-man roster
for the 2023–24 campaign. Having played in very few games for Watford the previous season, he was declared free
for sale in the summer.
Hause, who has only made three appearances for the Championship team, had surgery for a knee issue. He hasn’t
played in a competitive game since mid-September of 2022, when he was last included in the matchday squad
against Wigan Athletic on October 29, 2022.
When Hause’s knee injury started to bother him in January 2023, Watford sought to end his season-long loan;
however, there was no break clause, and Villa wanted him to stay at Vicarage Road.
Hause was consequently left without a position in Watford’s 25-man roster for the duration of the campaign. To find
a solution, the Professional Footballers’ Association (PFA) had talks about the situation with Watford and Villa.
The 28-year-old signed a three-year deal back in 2022, and he will begin the last 12 months of his current Villa
contract this summer. Hause announced on X, accompanied with three photos, that he has at last resumed full
training at Bodymoor Heath. “Finally back in full training with the boys.”
