Last weekend, when Kris Boyd said that Kyogo wasn’t as excellent a finisher at Hearts as Lawrence Shankland,

he was made fun of.

After the Japanese striker’s incredible goal against Rangers on Saturday afternoon,

his close friend Chris Sutton made light of the accusations.

Now, the two have furthered their argument.

When Sky Sports asked Celtic hero Sutton to select their half-term team of the season,

he found it hard to believe that Kyogo was left off of his colleague’s starting lineup,

but Boyd laughed heartily at the inclusion of Ibrox on the Englishman’s side.

The two take pleasure in making fun of each other’s choices every week,

so they didn’t need an invitation to do it again.

Sutton said, “There’s something about Kris with Kyogo,”

in response to Boyd’s categorical denial of the charge.

The former Gers player declared: “There is nothing.

I always believe that if you play for the Old Firm,

you should be the team’s top scorer, and Kyogo isn’t right now,

so that’s why I chose Shankland and (Bojan) Miovski.”

“Who is the guy who has stepped up in the decisive games?” Sutton continued.

Kyogo. It’s OK that he doesn’t want to give Kyogo any credit because he has been so focused on Lawrence Shankland.

I doubt Kyogo will have any sleepless nights about this.”

Inquired then on Kyogo in his XI Sutton laughed:

“He is captain and I am going to give him a new contract.”

“I am just prioritising Frankie Kent and his importance to Hearts,” Sutton claimed.

He’s been terrific for Hearts, in my opinion. However, I get your reasoning.

I may say to Goldson and Balogun, “Well done, you guys did well,

but I’m going to put Frankie Kent in front of you.”

Chris Sutton’s XI

Butland, Tavernier, Carter-Vickers, Kent, Cochrane, Palma, O’Riley, McGregor, Sima, Shankland, Kyogo.

Kris Boyd’s XI

Butland, Tavernier, Mayo, Scales, Beck, Palma, O’Riley, McGregor, Sima, Shankland, Mivoski.
