Aston Villa have to return to the drawing board after Cyril Ngonge snub

Ngonge isn’t keen on a move to Aston Villa this January,

despite the Premier League side reaching an agreement with Hellas Verona for the forward.

Due to rumors that Unai Emery and his group have already reached a deal with the Serie A team for Ngonge,

the Belgian has become Villa’s top target this transfer window.

Now that Ngonge seems uninterested in moving to the Premier League,

it seems as though Villa may have trouble landing the player.

According to Tutto Hellas Verona, Ngonge is keen to stay in Italy even though second-place Villa is pursuing him,

and he has no intention of leaving Serie A.

In fact, considering how significant the Premier League is in the international game these days,

turning down a transfer to the league has become somewhat of a rarity.

Emery, who seems certain that he would bring the Hellas Verona player to England in January,

may be taken aback if Ngonge declines to move to Villa Park.

Losing out on a target so early in the window having put in the work will be a hammer blow for Villa,

who got off their mark quickly to wrap up a deal for Ngonge.

However, the general direction of the transfer seems to indicate that it could soon collapse,

due to a lack of personal interest in the move from the Belgian forward.

As a result, Villa have to move fast to sign a replacement,

with the Villa Park side no doubt working already to find an alternative to Ngonge,

a process that could be easier said than done.
