West Ham United is reportedly interested in Max Kilman, according to a report from talkSPORT.

During this transfer window, the Hammers are looking to add a centre defender to their lineup.

They have so renewed their interest in the captain of Wolverhampton Wanderers,

whom they had also set their sights on during the summer transfer window.

Max Kilman: who is he?

Max Kilman joined Wolverhampton Wanderers in August 2018 and has already made tremendous progress.

The 26-year-old, a former Fulham trainee,

was mostly unnoticed throughout his early years.

In the first five years of his professional career,

he did not garner much attention,

but during the last six months,

he has become increasingly well-known.

Over the past five and a half years,

the London native has established himself as one of the Premier League’s most underappreciated defenders.

Following the departures of Ruben Neves and Conor Coady,

Kilman has also assumed the role of club captain at the Molineux.

He has made 128 appearances for Wolverhampton Wanderers thus far,

contributing two goals and two assists.

Kilman has had more suitors in the past few years as his leadership abilities have become more apparent.

Among them is West Ham United,

who gave signing him some thought during the summer transfer window.

Is a Premier League Move in the Cards?

Max Kilman was also a target for Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur to sign during the summer transfer window.

However, the two top teams in the Premier League are no longer interested in the 26-year-old.

West Ham United will attempt to hire him this month in the interim.

Nayef Aguerd and West Ham are expected to split ways during the January transfer window.

Furthermore, Angelo Ogbonna is nearing the conclusion of his career and is far into his thirties.

Therefore, West Ham needs to add a centre defender during the current transfer window,

and the captain of Wolverhampton Wanderers seems like a good fit.

Midway through the season, though,

it is improbable that the 26-year-old will complete a move across the Premier League.

Under the guidance of Gary O’Neil, Wolverhampton Wanderers are becoming more and more prominent,

and they intend to place in the top half.

Therefore, West Ham may need to search elsewhere this month for a centre defender.
