Eagles punter Braden Mann assists young boys in collecting money for their Africa trip.

In an effort to generate money for their summer vacation to Africa, teenage guys painted shoes on Tuesday, with Philadelphia Eagles punter Braden Mann joining him and numerous other mentors.

“Ideas for my dad, basically,” 13-year-old Ibrahim Smith stated.

Using a pair of Nike Air Force 1 sneakers as a canvas, the teenager inscribed his and his siblings’ names in tribute to their father.

“The letters stand for Mekalya, Mekai, Efrom, Azhir, Nassir, Ibrahim, and Talib, and they spell out ‘MEAN IT.'” Thus, I intended to attach that to the shoe,” Smith stated.

He was one of roughly twenty young males who enrolled in the Guerin Recreation Center’s KB Foundation Leadership Education Abroad Program to paint shoes provided by Lapstone + Hammer.

 

But this went beyond just an artistic endeavor. In the end, a few of the children will put their shoes up for auction to raise money for their journey to Africa.

Founder Kirk Berry stated, “This is a 100% free opportunity for the young people who are part of our KB Foundation.”

According to him, the auction makes the trip as easy as possible for these lads.

“Any dollars raised for our LEAP program are for the youth to be able to get their passports, their visas, their vaccination shots, if needed,” Berry stated.

In August 2023, a few of the lads in attendance made the journey already.

program.
Mann remarked, “I think the trip to Africa is amazing.” “They’ve been giving me brief updates on it and their actions. It seems like a really fantastic cause. And it would be wonderful if I could assist in any way.”

The auction will be hosted by Stadium Custom Kicks. Owner Alex Katz countered that not all artists are required to market their work.

“Or, they can wear them around town, around school, or whatever they want to do with them,” he continued.

Smith intends to surprise his father by keeping his sneakers.

Smith remarked, “He’s not aware that I’m doing it yet.” “But I think he’s going to be proud.”
