AC Milan ‘considering’ Aston Villa transfer but face major hurdle
Jhon Duran, a striker for Aston Villa,
is reportedly being pursued by Italian powerhouse AC Milan in January.
The Colombian international has struggled to get starts at Villa Park
since he is ranked beneath Ollie Watkins in the hierarchy.
He is frequently used as a late substitution in the Premier League
and has not yet been included in a starting lineup.
Despite playing for just eight minutes on Saturday against Burnley,
the striker made a difference by winning the game-winning penalty kick in the 3-2 victory.
This season, he has made a total of 21 appearances in all competitions, scoring four goals.
AC Milan has reportedly become interested in the striker due to his lack of starts for Villa;
according to Sky Sports,
the Serie A team is “admirers” of the player
and is “considering” making a deal for him during the current transfer window.
The team’s dilemma, though,
is that they need to remove a player from their roster to provide space for any future additions.
Duran’s eligibility for AC Milan is already limited to players who are not from the European Union.
Nestor Lorenzo, a manager to Duran
expressed hope that Unai Emery would give Duran more starts this season back in October.
He has a lot of competition at Aston Villa from other players in his position,
so he isn’t playing as much as he should be.
Hopefully, he can establish himself as a starter soon.
Neither is the 20-year-old a consistent starter for Colombia at this time.
In October, he made his final appearance for the national team in a 0-0 tie against Ecuador,
coming on as a second-half substitute.
