Live updates and open discussion: Eagles vs. Cardinals, Week 17

The 3-12 Arizona Cardinals present the second tough opponent the 11-4 Philadelphia Eagles have faced in a row after their rather disappointing victory over the miserable New York Giants one week ago.

For the third straight game, the Eagles will be missing Darius Slay, but Avonte Maddox’s return will strengthen their secondary.

The Cardinals, on the other hand, are severely injured around the field, especially at linebacker and along the defensive line. The Eagles vs. Cardinals injury report is available here.

The Eagles should be able to score a lot of points against the Cardinals defense, which is not only lacking a number of players but was weak to begin with, as we mentioned in our list of five games to watch.

A frightening thing if they don’t.

The Cards definitely have some offensive skill, especially when it comes to their run game with players like the quick-witted and strong James Conner and the agile Kyler Murray.

This week’s spread for this match has fluctuated a little, but it has now landed at Eagles (-12.5) or (-13), depending on where you check.

A sack! Milton Williams sacks Kyler Murray for nine yards on first-and-goal from the three-yard line! While making a mistake, Murray managed to retrieve the lost ball.

The Cardinals settle for a field goal after marching to the Philadelphia three-yard line.

The visitors were prevented from reaching the end zone by a sack by Williams, a two-yard rush by James Conner, and a throw breakup by Reed Blankenship on third down. Matt Prater, a veteran, makes the 28-yard field goal. (Eagles 0, Cardinals 3)

D’Andre Swift surpasses 1,000 running yards for the first time in his four-year career with a six-yard sprint on first down!
PRESSURE DOWN! A 12-yard touchdown pass from Jalen Hurts is caught by Julio Jones in the back right corner of the end zone.

Jones scores a touchdown for the first time since Week 8.

With this pass, Hurts surpasses the franchise record for the most touchdowns in a season.

The offense is moved down the field with a 23-yard reception on third down by Dallas Goedert and a 16-yard reception by A.J. Brown. (Cardinals 3, Eagles 7)

Quarter Two

A sack! Murray is grabbed by Jalen Carter before he can flee.
PRESSURE DOWN! At the Philadelphia one-yard line, Sydney Brown intercepts Murray, who is then carried 99 yards to the house.

Brown dashed to the near sideline, ducked under Arizona’s defenders, and found the end zone. This is the first interception and touchdown of Brown’s career.

In the history of the team, this is tied for the fourth-longest interception. Griffins 3 – Eagles 14

After possessing the ball for 9:54, the Cardinals are unable to locate the end zone. They had no choice but to accept a 34-yard field goal. 14 Eagles – 6 Cardinals

PRESSURE DOWN! Jones once more finds the end zone! Even though former Eagle Andre Chachere tipped Hurts’ 22-yard ball, it still had enough momentum to reach the seasoned receiver just shy of the goal line.

For his second score of the game, Jones was able to force his way across the line.

The drive was maintained by a 17-yard pass from Kenneth Gainwell to DeVonta Smith on third down.

The Eagles close the half on a positive note with a 1:34 drive. Cardinals 6 – Eagles 21

Quarter Three

On their first play of the half, the Cardinals find the end zone after driving down the field. Michael Carter is found by Murray for a seven-yard touchdown. Carter sidestepped Shaquille Leonard’s tackle and strolled into the end zone. (Cardinals 13, Eagles 21)
Murray finds Conner for a five-yard touchdown after he somehow escapes a sack. Michael Wilson is then found by Murray to finish the two-point conversion. Eagles 21 – Cardinals 21
