Everton brutally criticised by BBC pundit following 3-0 defeat to Wolves
In an open evaluation of Everton’s performance,
Kevin Campbell said that Wolves’ 3-0 victory was “probably kind” to Sean Dyche’s team.
Everton’s winless streak in all competitions now stands at four games following the loss at Molineux.
The team is finding it difficult to establish a bigger buffer between themselves and the relegation zone.
Campbell has been particularly scathing of Everton’s performance,
claiming that the visitors were flattered by Wolves’ 3-0 victory.
Pundits and journalists chastised the Toffees mercilessly,
with Campbell underlining that their performance fell well short of expectations.
Campbell stated, “I was very impressed with Wolves today,” on BBC’s Final Score.
Everton was unable to match them today as they unleashed their full force.
“Everton was probably treated kindly by three goals.”
The critical assessment highlights serious issues with Everton’s performance in December.
Everton’s performance has suffered as a result of the quietening of Merseyside,
even if the team had been playing better before the Toffees’ point deduction.
Even though the team’s effort at Molineux was unsatisfactory,
the outcome was undoubtedly worse, indicating a worrying decline in their general calibre of play.
The home team’s expected goals (xG) value from their 12 attempts was much greater, 2.06,
even though they only had two more shots than Sean Dyche’s squad.
The Toffees, on the other hand, only mustered 0.46 xG out of 10 shots.
The Toffees gave up a lot of excellent opportunities,
which added to what can only be called a really subpar performance.
Because of the troubles of the clubs below them,
Everton is now above the Premier League relegation zone despite their dismal performance. There is,
however, serious worry that they could be drawn back into the relegation struggle
if they play and perform as they have previously.
