FRISCO – La’el Collins never considered talent to be important. When it came to the Dallas Cowboys, professionalism was ultimately what mattered.

The Buffalo Bills are giving Collins, a blue-chip offensive lineman when he joined the league, an end-of-week workout, a league source told CowboysSI.com.

Following his release from the Cincinnati Bengals, Collins, 30, has been a free agent for the majority of this season. If he can return to the level of play that characterised his Dallas years, he may be a valuable “off-the-couch” addition for a Bills club battling for a postseason berth. then he has the opportunity to sign with a team that is emerging at the ideal moment.

Collins was an undrafted free agent out of LSU who was mostly employed by the Cowboys. Had his past not been controversial, he would have been selected in the first round. Throughout the mid-to-late 2010s, he helped “America’s Team” become one of the greatest offensive lines in the NFL by starting 71 of the 74 games he played in. He also showed position flex.

However, as he faced disagreements inside the NFL’s substance abuse programme and difficulties related to his fitness, the Cowboys grew weary of some of his behavioural issues. Collins then inked a $21 million three-year contract with the Bengals following his release by Dallas in 2022. He had a strong start to the season there, starting 15 games at tackle, but a ruptured ACL and MCL late in the year sidelined him.

The starting offensive line for the Bills appears to be mostly intact. But Collins, an experienced assistant? We’re going to find out if Buffalo thinks he deserves another chance.
