Tampa Bay Buccaneers Down Two Starters Against New Orleans Saints
When the Tampa Bay Buccaneers play the New Orleans Saints on Sunday, with the NFC South title on the line, they
will be playing without two defensive starters. Following Friday’s practice, head coach Todd Bowles declared that
outside linebacker Shaq Barrett and cornerback Carlton Davis were out. For the divisional meeting, tight end Ko
Kieft is also out.
With a concussion, Davis departed the Bucs’ Week 16 matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars and did not come
back. Following a brief stay in the blue medical tent on the sidelines, Davis returned to the locker room following the
injury that occurred early in the second quarter. Zyon McCollum took his spot, and it seems likely that he will start in
his place. This season, Davis has missed four games and portions of others because of injuries. The week before he
was declared inactive, he did not practice.
Barrett suffered a groin injury late in the game, and his return was considered dubious. He never showed back. After
overcoming an Achilles tear in the previous season, the seasoned pass rusher has begun to regain his form in recent
weeks. This week, he didn’t practice.
.Kieft will not play in this Sunday’s game against the Saints due to a shoulder injury. With Kieth out, David Wells
from the practice squad will probably get promoted. Wells was added to the practice squad after being removed from
the main roster at the beginning of the season. Payne Durham, a fifth-round pick who has produced some ridiculous
receptions in recent weeks, has been able to get more snaps as a result. The Buck lose their best tight end blocking
against a potent front seven with Kieth out of the lineup.
.Anthony Nelson and Joe Tr yon-Shoyinka will need to step up in Shag Barrett’s absence. Cam Gill and Markees
Watts might receive more opportunities, therefore they must take use of them. Despite his remarkable progress,
McConnell will still face challenges from Chris o lave and Rash-id Sheered.
