Celtics injury report: 4 starters listed vs. Raptors Friday
When the Celtics play the Raptors at TD
Garden on Friday night, they won’t have
a full roster. Following a Thursday night
overtime victory over the Pistons, Boston
has eight players, including four regular
starters, on their injury list.
Al Horford has already been ruled out by
the Celtics due to rest, which is to be
expected given that he hasn’t played a
back-to-back in two seasons. Boston’s top
two big men will probably be missing for
the second half of the back-to-back due
to the dubious status of Kristaps
Porzingis (left calf injury management).
Luke Kornet and Neemias Queta will handle the lion’s
share of minutes at center without that
duo while Lamar Stevens could see spot
duty if Joe Mazzulla wants to go small against Toronto.
Due to a variety of ailments, three
important starters for Boston have been
listed as questionable. Jaylen Brown has
a low back contusion, so for the second
straight game, he is questionable. With
the same issue, he missed Thursday’s
victory. Jrue Holiday (right elbow injury)
and Jason Tatum (sprained ankle) are
both doubtful for the game after logging
significant minutes against the Pistons.
Due to a G-League assignment, Boston
will also be without rookie Jordan Walsh
and two-way players Drew Peterson and
JD Davison, potentially making eight
roster players available for the game.
Boston will face a tough battle as the
Raptors visit town without a rotation
player on the injury report, hoping to
extend their home winning streak to 16
games to start the season.
The Celtics have won four straight games
overall and have beaten the Raptors in
both head-to-head matchups this season.
Boston and Toronto tip off at TD Garden at 7:30 p.m. ET Friday night.
