Los Angeles Lakers prioritizing two specific needs ahead of NBA trade deadline
Many people thought the Los Angeles Lakers were serious candidates for the NBA Championship when they emerged victorious in the NBA’s In-Season Tournament.
Their 16–15 record, however, suggests that Darvin Ham’s team still has opportunity to improve.
The good news is that there is still plenty of time for the Lakers to
bolster their squad before the NBA trade deadline on February 8.
The Purple and Gold have already been connected to a number of names,
but no deals have been signed as of yet.
However, NBA expert Adrian Wojnarowski claims that the Lakers are giving
special attention to athleticism and speed.
Some players that come to mind that suit this description
are Zach LaVine of Chicago and Dejounte Murray of Atlanta,
both of whom have been linked to the Lakers in multiple rumours.
While it would be simpler to acquire LaVine, the Lakers might favour Murray’s defensive prowess over LaVine’s.
However, little over a year after making the trade for the former Spurs guard,
Atlanta might not be eager to let go of their All-Star defence.
The Lakers have more than a month to locate a trade partner, as previously stated,
but Lakers general manager Rob Pelinka may be under more pressure to act now that the team
has dropped five of its last six games.
