If Philippe Clement could have his wish for Christmas fulfilled, it would most likely be a Rangers right winger who scored goals at the same pace as Abdallah Sima, such as Denis Bouanga.

Ross McCausland, 20, has been trusted and elevated by the Gers manager; yet, he still needs some time and support to turn into an Ibrox hero, even if he has undoubtedly solidified his spot in the team.

No manager seems to have gotten this position right, but Rangers must support the manager in January. If Denis Bouanga, who was once linked to the team, has enough money and is expected to return to Europe, then he should be taken into consideration.

Rangers know price it would take for Denis Bouanga

When Michael Beale and James Bisgrove were in discussions to sign Jose Cifuentes from Los Angeles FC, they should have asked how much it would take to bring the Gabon international back across the Atlantic.

With 31 goals and 10 assists in 40 games for the MLS season that LAFC narrowly missed out on ending as MLS Cup champions, Denis Bouanga produced exactly the type of numbers that Clement will be looking for when he goes shopping for reinforcements.

Apparently, the winger wants to return to Europe for personal reasons and the rumoured price tag has been set in the region of £7.8m to £8.6m.

Similar rumors surfaced when Cifuentes was signed by Rangers, although the final cost to acquire the Ecuadorian international was only £1.2 million.

The age of Denis Bouanga, 29, would be a barrier rather than accepting the kind of payment indicated for the ideal player.

We already have Sam Lammers and Cyriel Dessers, who are expensive and won’t produce a profit for a club trying to build a player trading strategy.

It’s unfortunate that Rangers didn’t sign him when we had a stronger attempt to sign him, but the most likely option is a return to France and Ligue 1.
