Warriors’ Steph Curry, Jordan Poole show each other love ahead of first matchup since trade The Washington Wizards traded guard
Jordan Poole to the Golden State Warriors during the offseason, and this Friday night will be
young player—shared a unique experience:
After the incident with Draymond Green, Poole spent four seasons with the Warriors before the team opted to cut connections and
move him to the Wizards in exchange for Chris Paul. Poole is averaging 17.2 points, 3.6 assists, 2.5 rebounds, and 31% shooting from
outside per game so far in Washington, D.C. Many had higher expectations of Poole because of his larger role, but he has received
criticism for his attitude issues and is still getting used to his new circumstances.
Curry was one of the Warriors players who really made a point of being a mentor for Poole and it certainly helped. The 24-year-old
saw his numbers improve each and every season with Golden State, averaging a career-best 20.4 PPG in 2022-23. But, he stunk up the
joint in the playoffs, which likely played a part in the front office parting ways and deciding to bring in CP3 instead.
Standing just one game below, the Warriors enter Friday’s match as winners of three straight games.500 at times 13–14. Even with
their dismal 5-22 record, the Wizards are still among the worst teams in the NBA. If Poole was performing at the same level as the
previous season, maybe things would be different.
Either way, the Dubs fans ought to greet him with open arms.
