2022 helped the team capture their seventh NBA championship. Coming back as a Washington Wizard

now must be surreal for the young sharpshooter considering all that has changed in his new situation.

An Ugly Breakup Between Poole And The Warriors

Jordan Poole averaged 18.5 points per game on 44-36-92 shooting splits during the 2021-22 campaign.

With Poole as their third-best player, the Warriors finished third in the West that season

with 53 total wins en route to an impressive title run. But once the championship celebrations began to wind down,

and it was time for Poole to get back to work, problems began to arise.

Problems first surfaced before to the start of the following season. During a team practice, Draymond Green was

shown striking Poole and knocking him out in a controversial video that was leaked to social media.

Despite their best efforts, the Warriors were never the same after the altercation,

and Poole’s low self-esteem caused a rift between him and his teammate that would never go away.

The Warriors finally gave up on Poole at the end of the rocky 2022–2023 postseason,

sending him to the Wizards in exchange for seasoned point guard Chris Paul.

A Rude Awakening For Jordan Poole

Moving from Southern California to Washington D.C. is never a decision made by choice, but Jordan Poole

came into it hoping to make the best of the situation. Unfortunately for Poole, things haven’t really panned out so far.

In 25 games as a Wizard, Jordan’s stats are down across the board with averages of 17.4 points, 3.5 assists,

and 2.5 rebounds per game on 41% shooting.

The Wizards’ current team performance has been the worst aspect of his transfer. The Wizards are just 4-22 during

the first quarter of the season and have struggled to win games with merely Poole and Kuzma to lead them.

The world will be waiting to see how Poole responds when he sees his old squad for the first time since being traded tonight.

Jordan Poole will have a great chance to make a statement and send a message to the team that traded him today,

so the Warriors will need to be on the lookout for ways to restrict him early in the game.
