‘Honestly’… Paul Parker shares his true feelings about £8m Celtic transfer rumour
As Brendan Rodgers attempts to bolster his forward line in January, the rumour that Celtic are interested in signing
£8 million-rated forward Mathias Kvistgaarden made headlines once more this week.
The 21-year-old has been under Celtic’s notice since the summer, and oddly, Paul Parker, a former Manchester
United midfielder, has expressed interest in him now that Rodgers is trying to get him to Parkhead.
The legendary United man seems to have an issue with Celtic taking the top talent from the Danish league and has urged the youngster to stay where he is.
Parker said [Daily Record], “I am sure that every top club in Denmark would be disappointed
if their best players left the club just to go to Celtic and play in the Scottish league.
“Compared to the Scottish league, the Danish league is more competitive. Though FC Copenhagen
is ranked third in the league, their performance in the Champions League suggests that the
league is actually fairly strong when you compare their budget to that of the other clubs.
I recall some pretty impressive results in Europe from some Danish teams.
In the past, the Scottish League served as a useful stepping stone to the Premier League.
“But to be honest, I wouldn’t mind playing in the Scottish league over the Danish one right now.”
Here, Parker seemed to be confused about what to do. There is still a fantastic route to the
English Premier League via the Scottish League.
Consider players who left Paradise, like as Kieran Tierney, Odsonne Edouard, Ryan Christie,
and Virgil van Dijk, who all made their big-money moves as a result of Celtic’s victories.
It’s rather perplexing why Parker feels the need to share his two cents.
Kvistgaarden has every opportunity to move
on to something bigger if he decides to join Celtic, but only if he can deliver on the field like others have.
