Arthur Smith Exposes Truth Behind Falcons Recent Run Game Struggles

Falcons head coach Arthur Smith reveals why the team’s once successful run game has fallen off as of late.

The offense, which was previously driven by a potent run game, has died in recent weeks as the Atlanta Falcons have lost control of the NFC South division, and as a result, their season may be finished in three games.

In Week 12, the leading Falcons gained 228 running yards and defeated the New Orleans Saints 24–15. Star running back Bijan Robinson has been virtually nonexistent in the three games played since the Saints, when he recorded his second straight game with 90 or more rushing yards.

Robinson’s rushing performance was cut in half during the next three games, going from an average of 93 rushing yards per game in those games to 98 total yards in the following three games. Since defeating New Orleans, the squad has generally struggled to rush the football, averaging fewer than 113 total yards per game.

However, the head coach of Atlanta is optimistic that his club will recover to finish the season.

In an effort to snap a two-game losing streak, the Falcons’ “prideful group” will get a chance to establish itself at home against the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday.
