With a five-game winning streak heading into this past weekend, the Dallas Cowboys appeared to be a Super Bowl contender.

They traveled to New York to play the talented but underachieving Buffalo Bills,

a team that has had trouble playing to its full potential all season.

Instead of extending their winning streak, the Cowboys lost decisively, 31-10, and their chances of winning the NFC

East and possibly finishing first in the conference took a big blow.

While pass rusher Micah Parsons claimed people across the nation want Dallas to lose,

David Helman said on FS1’s “Speak” it’s more that engagement and big stories

regarding the Cowboys are good for business.

The Cowboys have been known as “America’s Team” for a number of years. Although they may have the largest fan

base in the league, they also have a large number of detractors who like it when the team loses.

Quarterback Dak Prescott, maybe the overwhelming favorite to earn the MVP award for the regular season,

was unable to complete a touchdown pass against Buffalo on Sunday.

Consequently, he has lagged behind other players in the MVP standings and now appears to be a long

shot to win the trophy.

Sunday’s game revived the incessant narrative about Prescott playing poorly in big games,

and it is something the Cowboys and their fans need to be concerned about for the rest of this winter.

The team still has a shot at reaching the Super Bowl, but it is hard to imagine it hoisting the Vince Lombardi Trophy for the first time since the 1995 season.
