Dele Alli deserves ‘big say’ in next career move after Everton nightmare
In an interview with GIVEMESPORT, transfer insider Dean Jones stated that Everton midfielder Dele Alli
should have a “big say” in his future professional move. Jones also clarified
why the Toffees and Tottenham Hotspur should collaborate to “resurrect” Alli’s career.
Dele was tipped to be one of England’s next major stars, but his influence at Goodison Park has been limited
due to his personal problems and numerous injuries. In his 13 games with the team,
he has contributed 0 goals.
As we approach the hectic holiday season, Sean Dyche’s team, despite their 10-point deficit,
has recently seen an improvement in play and is currently sitting just outside the drop zone. For this reason,
when Dele returns to action, the fans will be eager to have him.
Dele’s Everton future hangs in the balance
The Englishman left Tottenham after seven years to join Everton in a deal that could have gone up to £40 million,
depending on performance-related add-ons, on the final day of the winter transfer
window in 2022, according to Sky Sports. The Liverpool team was eager to offer Dele the chance
to revive his bright future because he had spent the majority of his time on the bench under Antonio Conte.
Before being sent on loan to Besiktas in August 2022, the former England international made
just 13 appearances for the team. After a disastrous spell in Turkey, Dele returned to Merseyside and was
forced to watch from the sidelines as he recovered from a chronic groin ailment.
Alli was recently seen returning to training in anticipation of making his first appearance
for his present employers in more than a year.
It remains to be seen, though, if his future is at Everton given Benj Winstanley, host of A View From
The Bullens podcast, previously told GIVEMESPORT that the team’s financial situation
prevents them from “paying” for the midfield player. The Times reports that Everton has rejected Tottenham’s
proposal to rework the Dele agreement. It has been stated that his former employers
were eager to lower the £10 million initial charge to £8 million, provided
that fewer appearances were needed before the fee became due.
Of course, this would mean Everton would be, from a financial standpoint, better off, though it also
makes it more likely that they would be forced to muster the funds for Dele, who pockets £100,000 per week,
this campaign – something which they would struggle to do. The report does suggest, however,
that both parties are ‘open to further talks’ as they hope to reach an appropriate resolution.
Dean Jones on Dele Alli
When quizzed whether, on the back of the Toffees failing to renegotiate his terms, Alli’s future now lies elsewhere,
Jones admitted that Dele should get a ‘big say’ in where he potentially plies his trade next.
Referencing his heartfelt interview with former Manchester United ace Gary Neville, he insisted that the football
world now holds ‘extreme sympathy’ for what the former Spurs prodigy has been through.
The transfer insider placed importance on Dele’s situation, suggesting that what matters most is ensuring
he is able to ‘resurrect’ his career, though he did concede that negotiations
between all relevant parties may prove to be difficult. Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, Jones said:
