Celtic transfer target displaces Chelsea loanee in Real Madrid Starting XI
Andriy Lunin, the rumoured goalkeeping target for Celtic,
made his Real Madrid comeback start in tonight’s 4-1 victory over Villarreal.
Prior to Thibaut Courtois’s ACL injury,
the Ukrainian goaltender was filling in for the Belgian goalkeeper.
Lunin is currently playing frequently for Carlo Ancelotti’s squad after defeating the opposition.
Before Kepa arrived from Chelsea, Lunin, 24, who has made 25 appearances for Madrid,
had hoped that Courtois’ injury would have allowed room for more playing time.
However, Lunin has now displaced Kepa as Madrid’s starting quarterback.
According to reports from back in October,
Celtic was thinking of making a move for the Madrid goalie in preparation for a summer transfer.
The goalie was then expected to turn down a new deal because of his insufficient playing time.
Hart, 36, has performed admirably since leaving Tottenham Hotspur to join Celtic in 2021.
Entering his third season,
Hart has been evasive when asked about his future ambitions,
adamant that he will enjoy playing football now and not worry about it later.
The club must keep in mind that even though he gains experience, he is not growing any younger.
Caoimhin Kelleher of Liverpool has also been linked to Celtic,
but Klopp has stated that he wants the Irishman to stay at Anfield.
In the January transfer window, Brendan Rodgers will likely want to add a few players to the team,
but considering his attacking priorities,
you would think a custodian would be far down his priority list.
