Despite having a history of injury issues throughout the previous two seasons, Calvert-Lewin has managed to make 13 Premier League

games this season, including 11 starts, and has three league goals.

Beto joined in August from Serie A team Udinese for an alleged £30 million move (BBC Sport).

Despite making only four starts, Beto has only scored one league goal in 11 top-flight appearances.

However, Hendrie believes that Calvert-Lewin is benefiting this term from Beto’s presence,

as he stated on Soccer Sunday, December 17, at 1:57 p.m.

He remarked, “Even Beto, when he comes on, he gives Calvert-Lewin a similar sort of identity without as much quality.”

“I believe that as the seasons pass, he will become more fit and improve.”

Although Calvert-Lewin is the more talented striker, I believe you can bring on a player who can perform

a similar job to what Calvert-Lewin is doing and protect him from injuries to some extent.

I believe that when you bring on fresh legs, you’ll know he’ll work that backline and try to protect the ball.

Good to have options

In a straight choice between a fully fit Calvert-Lewin and a fully fit Beto then right now you are always going to select the former, not least because he is a proven Premier League striker.

But Beto has added that much-needed competition up front and an option that the

Toffees really lacked over the past couple of seasons when Calvert-Lewin was injured.

Sure Neal Maupay was technically an option, but he was an abject failure in an Everton shirt.

Everton is currently winning four straight Premier League games, and Sean Dyche will like to see his forwards score a little bit more goals to really help the team pick up steam.

While Calvert-Lewin is positioning himself to succeed, it appears that he is still working on gaining a little more assurance and confidence. That will surely happen if Everton continues to win.
