The Scottish champions were defeated 2-0 by Hearts at home yesterday, continuing their season-long inability to win three straight games.

Sutton has allayed concerns despite this and the Parkhead team’s dismal European campaign,

but he also acknowledged Brendan Rodgers’ team needs to do better.

“Crisis club Celtic?,” he said on BBC Radio 5 Live. Despite being the league leaders, Celtic supporters will point the finger at the board for their team’s lackluster performance today, according to all accounts.

“They can point the finger at the fact that some Celtic supporters are still not permitted inside Celtic Park.

“But Brendan Rodgers must undoubtedly shoulder some of the blame. He has returned; Angeball was the player of the previous season, but this season’s performance has truly declined, and Brendan must take the blame.

After Celtics’ 2-0 defeat, Rodgers apologized to incensed Celtic supporters.

The Parkhead manager acknowledged that his team’s performance in the Scottish Premiership loss was much below par, but he also said he wasn’t very shocked by the decline in performance.

‘Sack the board’ and ‘Lawwell get to f***’ chants from the stadium following the team’s loss expressed the supporters’ anger.

“First and foremost, it’s an apology to the support base,” Rodgers stated on BBC Sportsound. Neither this time nor the previous time I believe I have ever had to do that in my entire time here.

“To be sure, neither the player’s nor the team’s performance tonight came close to meeting expectations as Celtics.

“We lacked that intensity, that drive when we had the ball, and any desire to defend.”

“And like I said, it felt like we could have played all night and not scored.”

But Sutton has urged fans to calm down, adding that Celtic are still top

of the league – though he didn’t fall short of criticising Brendan Rodgers.
