Manchester United might “potentially” persuade Unai Emery to come if they offer him a long-term project.

That’s the opinion of former Premier League winger Aaron Lennon,

who was questioned about whether Aston Villa manager Erik ten Hag would succeed him at

Old Trafford on national radio.

The 36-year-old stated that Emery had “no chance” of joining United,

but he later acknowledged that it might happen if the

Villa manager had specific assurances from the Red Devils’ management.

“Not a chance. No, in my opinion. When questioned about Emery joining United, Lennon told talkSPORT,

“He has a squad that is absolutely flying.”

“Obviously, Man United are one of the biggest clubs in the world,

but unless they go there saying he has got a three,

four-year project to get it right, I think that’s the only way.”

Lennon went on to say that Emery might leave Villa if United made those assurances.

Not at this moment. Not now, maybe at the conclusion of the season.”

Emery’s work at Villa has drawn notice from all throughout the country.

With a win versus Brentford today (Sunday),

his side, who is presently third in the Premier League,

may take the top spot if other outcomes go their way.
