Monaco set to host World Rugby Sevens Repechage for Paris 2024 Olympics

The Olympic Games Paris 2024 rugby sevens repechage competition will be held in Monaco from June 21–23,

2024. The famous competition is back at Stade Louis II,

the venue of the final qualifying tournaments for the Olympic Games in Rio in 2016 and Tokyo in 2020.

• The final men’s and women’s qualifiers for the rugby sevens sport at the Olympic Games in Paris in 2024 will be determined at Stade Louis II in Monaco.
• On June 21–23, 2024, twelve men’s and twelve women’s teams will compete over three days.
• The Blitzboks of South Africa lead a competitive men’s division that includes Canada, Great Britain, and Spain as regular HSBC SVNS teams.
• Through the HSBC SVNS and regional qualification events, eleven men’s and eleven women’s teams from each of the six World Rugby regions have already guaranteed their spots in Paris.
• Rugby Sevens, the first sport to begin the Olympic Games in Paris on July 24, 2024, is expected to give an incredible curtain raiser at Stade de France.

The rugby sevens repechage event for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris has been announced by World Rugby will take place in Monaco from June 21–23, 2024.

Stade Louis II, the site of previous final qualification competitions for the Olympic Games in Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020,

will host the prestigious event once again.

With 22 of the 24 teams confirmed,

the World Rugby Sevens Repechage is the final opportunity for teams to secure a highly sought-after spot at the Olympic Games in Paris in 2024.

There will only be one men’s and one women’s squad that is qualified to line up in Paris’ Stade de France.

After winning the first round of the HSBC SVNS 2024 in Dubai in December,

South Africa’s Blitzboks will be fierce competitors,

and other main teams on the elite rugby sevens circuit include Canada, Great Britain, and Spain.

Argentina, China, Czechia, Hong Kong China, Kenya, Jamaica, Mexico, Papua New Guinea, Paraguay,

Poland, Samoa, and Uganda are among the teams competing in the women’s competition,

which appears to be very open. Czechia will be competing in its first Repechage event.

When rugby sevens becomes the first event to compete at the Olympic Games in Paris on July 24,

2024, it promises to be an incredible opening ceremony at Stade de France.

The eleven men’s and eleven women’s teams that have already guaranteed their places in Paris through the HSBC SVNS and regional qualification tournaments represent all six World Rugby regions.

In the men’s competition, the hosts France are joined by six regional qualification tournament winners from Uruguay (South America), Ireland (Europe), USA (North America),

Kenya (Africa), Samoa (Oceania), and Japan (Asia), as well as New Zealand, Argentina,

Fiji, and Australia, who secured their spots in Paris by finishing in the top four of the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series 2023.

As the top four qualifiers through the 2023 World Series, New Zealand,

Australia, Ireland, and the United States join hosts France in the women’s Olympic lineup. In the women’s tournament,

they have been joined as the regional qualification tournament winners by Brazil,

Canada, Great Britain, South Africa, Fiji, and Japan.

The Monaco Rugby Union and the Monegasque government will work together to host the World Rugby tournament,

which will take place over three days on June 21–23.

After the incredible success of the Rugby World Cup 2023 in France,

rugby sevens is predicted to be one of the most eagerly awaited events of the Paris Games.
