Vincent Kompany gives injury update as Burnley could be without seven players for Everton clash
Vincent Kompany is hopeful of having some players back available for Burnley’s crunch encounter against Everton this weekend.
Charlie Taylor, a left-back, received his fifth booking of the year against Brighton last week, therefore he will be unavailable for the Clarets.
Meanwhile, Lyle Foster is still taking an indefinite hiatus from football in order to undergo specialized care for his mental health.
Luca Koleosho is also sidelined for a matter of months with a serious knee injury that has since been operated on.
“I can’t give you much more than that; anything he’s still able to give us this season is a bonus,” Kompany remarked.
Positively, the surgery went well, so he will fully heal and return as new when the time is appropriate. However, we are unable to set a timeline at this time.
Positively speaking, players like Josh Cullen and Jack Cork seem to be recovering from minor setbacks.
The squad’s availability is improving, Kompany continued, “but we’ve had a few other players out with niggles and who weren’t available. We hope to get them back, if not for the Fulham game then the Everton game.”
Aaron Ramsey is also questionable because he was substituted out against Brighton last week after just 20 minutes of play.
“He’s fine as in we can exclude any kind of dramatic scenarios with him, but at the moment he might be touch and go for Saturday,” Kompany revealed.
Michael Obafemi has been a noticeable absentee from Burnley’s match day squads for the past two games.
Having only recently recovered from a devastating hamstring injury, the striker has taken another hit, although Kompany is certain it’s nothing too serious.
Nothing major, just short-term problems, he stated.
“We should have Ramsey and Obafemi available pretty soon, but hopefully they are fit enough to compete.”
Everton, their opponents on Saturday, also have a number of selection concerns because both Jarrad Branthwaite and Idrissa Gueye are out.
Seamus Coleman, Ashley Young, Andre Gomes and Dele Alli are all sidelined, but Sean Dyche is confident former Claret Michael Keane will be available having previously been an injury doubt.
