Leon Bailey and Youri Tielemans of Aston Villa are expected to

be fit to play Brentford this weekend, according to Unai Emery.

Bailey left the game against Arsenal last Saturday at halftime after taking a knock in the first half;

neither player was listed in the team that travelled to play

Zrinjski in the Europa Conference League on Thursday.

After playing crucial but taxing shifts against Manchester City and

the Gunners in the space of a few days,

Tielemans didn’t survive very long as he was substituted after 56 minutes.

As a result, the two were among those who needed a break to recuperate from such physical demands.

Villa managed to secure the outcome we required in the middle of the week to advance as group winners,

and with Emery rotating after making eight changes from the previous weekend,

it’s hoped that we have a new group of important players prepared for another

challenging test on Sunday afternoon at Brentford.

Speaking following the match,

the Villa manager expressed optimism that Bailey and Tielemans would both return to action soon.

He will, of course, evaluate the entire team to decide who should start.

Emery stated to VillaTV, “We are going to concentrate on the Premier League and on Sunday in Brentford.”

“With other players, some players like Tielemans and Bailey,

hopefully we can get the match on Sunday with the players ready to play,” the team said.

“We are going to try and recover from the match we played tonight.”

Douglas Luiz and Lucas Digne, two key players,

have been given one-match suspensions for receiving too many yellow cards,

so Emery will need to find ways to cover those holes right away.

Bailey has been playing well this season on the right side,

but Alex Moreno will probably replace Digne at left-back.

Tielemans will be an important alternative to have to cover for Luiz in a more central midfield role.

Villa does have choices right now because of their talented and deep roster,

but Emery will surely want to be as close to full strength as possible on

Sunday in order to give his team the best opportunity of winning.
