The Daily Mail (12 December) had revealed that there was little hope for 777’s arrangement to be authorized before 2024 began, raising concerns that the Toffees may go into bankruptcy if the Miami-based company failed to provide them with funding into the new year.

777 Partners have repeatedly insisted that they expect to complete their takeover before the end of 2023 and according to Ornstein, they believe that takeover remains on track despite the recent media speculation.

Writing in his weekly Athletic Q&A (14 December) he said: ” Industry rumours abound, but the noises from Everton and 777 suggest they believe the takeover remains on track.

“We will, of course, stay across this on The Athletic.”

It’s undoubtedly starting to become a little confusing for Everton fans trying to keep up with every detail of this possible takeover, since it seems that 777 and their acquisition of the Toffees are making news every day.

For Everton supporters at least, there is some solace in the knowledge that Ornstein’s most recent remarks imply that the rumors recently circulating about Everton’s possible involvement with the administration and more point deductions may simply be “industry rumors.”

Time is running out for 777’s deal to be completed before the end of the year and should it occur any later, the Miami-based firm will have been wrong in their suggestion that the entire process of the deal remains completely on track.

Some would argue that if it takes this long to decide whether or not somebody is a fit and proper owner capable of financially supporting a club, they probably aren’t. This process has now dragged on for months with seemingly no process being made.

Everton supporters are the ones being left in the dark and they need a resolution sooner rather than later. Hopefully, Ornstein is correct and an answer will arrive before the end of the year.
