Sean Dyche axes Dominic Calvert-Lewin in two changes – Everton predicted XI v Chelsea.
Sean Dyche’s team won three points on December 7 with to goals from Dwight McNeil,
Abdoulaye Doucoure, and Beto. They will be hoping for a repeat performance on Sunday.
Chelsea, meanwhile, have failed to win three of their last four games, and Everton will be looking to
capitalise on that form and pile on the misery at Goodison Park.
Jordan Pickford, as always, will likely start between the sticks after another impressive performance
which rattled the Newcastle fans and players in the week.
Seamus Coleman limped off against Newcastle after a collision with Anthony Gordon led to
paramount.
Nathan Patterson was the man to replace the captain on Thursday and could do so again here as he provides the logical option at right-back.
With Jarrad Branthwaite and James Tarkowski continuing their dominant connection,
which has been the foundation for every excellent Everton performance thus far this season,
and Vitaliy Mykolenko continuing his form at left-back, the rest of the Everton backline speaks for itself after recent performances.
Given their impressive performance against Newcastle, Dyche might stick with
Doucoure and Idrissa Gueye in the middle of the field. However, Amadou Onana’s potential
comeback is now a possibility, as the manager has announced he is back to full training.
Ashley Young had only previously played in defense, so his inclusion on the right flank
against Newcastle came as a surprise. However, he stepped up and played a significant role on the wing,
making five tackles, attempting six crosses, and completing two crucial passes in an important performance at both ends.
McNeil on the opposite flank kept up his excellent form of late as he opened the
scoring, and he will be the first name on the team sheet for Dyche after scoring decisive goals in each of Everton’s last two games.
Jack Harrison accepted the duty of playing a new role in place of Doucoure,
who had often played number ten. He was given the opportunity to stray wide and get possession of the ball.
He shown inventiveness by making three crucial passes, dribbling successfully three times out of three attempts,
and getting off two shots.
As well as his creative masterclass, Harrison also showed how his hard work off the ball can influence the game, keeping constant pressure on the Newcastle defenders as he had a 50 per cent ground duel success rate and a 100 per cent aerial success rate.
