Despite the absence of James Garner and Amadou Onana due to injuries, the Toffees defeated Newcastle 3-0. Goalkeeper Jordan Pickford also required treatment for a knee ailment during the match.

However, the manager has stated that he hopes to get Garner and Onana back for the match.

Pickford is likely to be OK, and Seamus Coleman will be evaluated by

the medical staff after making a seven-month absence and playing for 65 minutes.

“I hope with Jimmy [Garner], because it’s a sickness bug—you never know, but as we all know,

they can pass very quickly,” he remarked. For a full day, each of us has had one.

There are a few lengthier ones; hopefully, this will just last for a day.

He would have enough time to replenish his food supply and regain his strength.

We’re hoping that Madou [Onana] will be present. We might simply have

to wait and see how the squad practices over the course of the next few days.

“We’ll follow up with Seamus tomorrow [Friday].”

Pickford just had a sore on his knee; tomorrow [Friday] we’ll learn more. I don’t think it’s anything too serious, but I don’t like to discuss it until I find out 24 or 48 hours later.

Boost

It’s not shocking to mention that Everton has had difficulty winning games in recent years

when any of their star players have missed them for various reasons.

The most obvious example of this is Dominic Calvert-Lewin, but since Dyche took over at Goodison,

the team has effectively operated as a squad, and on several instances,

the team has found solutions even in the absence of important players.

Despite the fact that Onana hasn’t played in over a month, the squad has performed admirably without him.

Garner’s illness was discovered at the last minute on Thursday,

but it didn’t really affect the team’s final result, which was an easy victory.

Coleman’s comeback was also a plus, as those players’ availability again can only be advantageous

with Chelsea to town this weekend and a short turnaround between games.

It is hoped that Pickford will be alright, as he appeared fine during the celebration following

the victory over Newcastle. Let’s hope there are no surprises with that one.
