At Bodymoor Heath, Unai Emery went in front of the cameras to give a preview of Aston Villa’s game with Manchester City.

The head coach of the team was excited to face Pep Guardiola and the Premier League champions at Villa Park.

This is what he said:

On the energy inside Villa Park…

The fans hold great significance. We were talking about how, on average,

every team tends to score more points at home than away.

“Playing alongside your supporters makes you feel stronger, which is one reason.

It is evident to us that we are at ease in our own home. Our supporters are interacting with

us and sending us their energy in return.

“Other teams experience the same thing, and in a long run, I’ve never heard of a team

losing more points away than at home. It’s really challenging. The fans are the cause.

We can’t wait to see them again in Villa Park tomorrow; it will be a memorable day there.

We’re making an effort to have fun with them.

On Villa’s progress…

“We can talk about how we are before the match against City: we are fourth in the table

and tomorrow is match number fifteen. We are highly motivated.”

We are going to have a wonderful chance, so we must have fun, stay focused,

and prepare for the match as best we can.

It’s a fantastic chance to demonstrate our ability to compete with the league’s top squad,

who took home the championship the previous season. We will examine how we may convey our performance and moment while attempting to maintain the same level of consistency that we do at home.

“We have another amazing test of our ability to demonstrate our potential tomorrow.”

On playing Manchester City…

“I want to play against the top players and teams all the time. Every team experiences injuries from time to time,

and we would like to remind you of Tyrone Mings and Emiliano Buendia, two of our major casualties.

“We are analyzing the opposition, but we are doing so more in aggregate than in isolation. It’s really tough to stop them from possessing the ball, in my opinion, because of their powerful structure.

“They will play with other very good players, but they will have some players out.”

On going up against Pep Guardiola…

“I started playing against him fifteen or sixteen years ago, and ever since then,

I’ve been wondering when I can defeat him.

“I’ve always responded the same way: if I can seize opportunities, I’ll play more against elite teams

and head coaches. Opportunities present themselves often, and tomorrow is no different.

“I’m thrilled to play again in Villa Park with our fans and give it our all.

We are making an effort to seize this chance and act strong as though we have been at home.
